Sarah Christman, MSW, LCSW
Whether you’re coming to therapy for the first time, or looking for a new therapist, the process of finding a therapist you really click with can be overwhelming…I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m a therapist who believes in the power of being heard and understood and that genuine conversation fosters connection and healing. I bring a lightheartedness, warmth and empathy to sessions that can help you feel seen and at ease in exploring your truest thoughts and feelings.
As a therapist, my philosophy is that what we’re struggling with on the surface is often a reflection of the past. Our bodies are hard wired to protect us, meaning we often adopt strategies to keep us safe and connected, and maybe those same strategies are the ones that are currently getting in our way. Together, we can find ways to manage what’s on the surface (i.e. the regrettable thing you said to your partner, how you say yes when you want to say no, mixed emotions of grief, hypervigilance experienced in social settings, etc.) while also diving deeper into how you came to understand yourself, the world, and your relationships. I believe therapy involves a returning to the self.
A little more about me
The fun stuff…
When I take off my therapist hat, you’ll find me outside, surfing, watching US Women’s Soccer, and goofing off with my husband, daughters and our dog, Cooper. I’ve always had an affinity for adventure and love going camping, hiking and exploring new places.
Once upon a time, I was a kayak tour guide, au pair, and worked on organic farms. I then worked in marketing for several years before deciding to pursue my Master’s Degree in Social Work. I’ve always been interested in the complexity of human experiences, exploring the existential questions of life, and I love connecting with others on a deeper level. Becoming a therapist just made sense.

I have a master’s degree in Social Work and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing. With extensive experience working with adolescents, parents, couples, and families, I’ve honed skills in a variety of settings, including outpatient, in-home, and wilderness-based residential programs.
Specializing in trauma-informed care, I’m trained in Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR. I use a combination of evidence-based therapies, including Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Solution-Oriented Therapy, Mindfulness practices, and the Gottman Method. I also have specialized training in Prolonged Grief Disorder.
